I founded SelfWorks, a group private therapy practice, in large part due to my belief that all of us have innate strengths and resiliency that often go untapped.
The name SelfWorks was created to share our belief that in the right environment, with the right guidance, the self… works. Therapy can be like an aspirin, a treatment for the relief of your pain and symptoms. Therapy can also be approached like a vitamin, to promote continued health, while helping your mind flourish and thrive. Since it can be used in these ways, we strongly believe there is never a bad time to start therapy.
– Amy Vigliotti, Ph.D., Founder
Our team of mental health professionals are sensitive and passionate about their therapeutic responsibility to you and want to help individuals from all backgrounds achieve their best self. We believe in giving you the insights and tools to thrive outside of therapy. We practice evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Exposure Therapy; Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD; Interpersonal Psychotherapy; Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD; Relaxation and Mindfulness Training; and Short-Term Psychodynamic Therapy. After a comprehensive consultation, we will discuss your treatment needs and choose the best approach to meet those goals.
At SelfWorks, you will be able to talk about anything that comes to your mind in a space free of judgment. Many of us struggle with indecision and worry about making the right choices. You likely have what it takes to exercise good decisions, but you may have had few opportunities to talk things over with someone who doesn’t try to make your decisions for you. We will help you define your values and practice the strategies you need to succeed. With us, you will draw connections between your experiences that will bring about healthy thoughts, self-worth and a new perspective.
Depression and anxiety are understandable human responses to the suffering we experience firsthand and witness all around us. Especially in recent years, SelfWorks’ therapists have experienced that suffering alongside our patients as we navigated the pandemic and global health crises together. We have never been more interconnected and deeply committed to personal and global healing.
Learning to live with an open and compassionate mind can relieve some of the painful ‘add-ons’ like self-blame, criticism, and harsh judgment. In this clip from The Mindfulness Movement, Dr. Amy Vigliotti shares how mindfulness, the practice of being in the present moment, can alleviate some of the layers of pain that are so common with anxiety and depression.
